The Role

Our client is seeking an experienced real estate credit specialist who will assist in building their UK real estate lending platform.

The new platform will target Senior Financing opportunities within the UK Commercial Real Estate mid-market (loans size up to £15MM). Aiming to issue £200MM-£300MM of loans per year.

The candidate will assist the company on the preliminary work such as creating financial models, pricing tools, setting up underwriting and monitoring processes, preparing internal templates for credit committee, support originating as well as loan structuring and underwriting.

They navigate the market cycle across multiple asset classes to generate value through tailored investment solutions to give their investors exposure to key economic sectors.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Initial consultancy phase responsibilities involve:

  • Building internal financial models and pricing tools;
  • Setting up the company’s underwriting and monitoring processes;
  • Drafting internal templates for credit committee;
  • Supporting origination of CRE loans across the UK;
  • Supporting due diligence, including, but not limited to market research, broker calls, third-party reports, financial statement audits, lease reviews;
  • Support drafting of term sheets and loan documentation templates;

 

Following an initial consultancy phase, there is an opportunity to secure a full-time position and develop in-house CRE credit and monitoring team:

  • Lead and/or manage closing execution, including but not limited to coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, consultants, and investors;
  • Present financing opportunities to investment committee and provide post-closing support for ongoing monitoring

 

BACKGROUND

  • Over 10 years of real estate credit experience and ability to structure, present high-value deals and execute effectively;
  • Proven track record in the UK market;
  • Experience in securitisation is a plus.
  • Strong entrepreneurial mindset;
  • Excellent attention to detail, verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work in an agile professional and high achiever;
  • Strong financial modelling and analysis (strong excel skills are essential);
  • Relevant work experience & track record, likely gained within a bank, real estate debt fund, investment bank, real estate private equity shop;
  • Must have demonstrated commercial experience and the ability to deal professionally, with credibility, integrity and confidently at all levels;
  • Professional work attitude, strong business ethics and principals;
  • Fluent English.

 

COMPENSATION (TBD)
