Our client is a growing pan-European real estate investment & development company focussed on hotels and co-living accommodations.
The company is growing fast with new locations coming up all over the continent (UK, Italy, Spain, France, Netherlands). They are looking to find new properties in top cities that attract international students, young professionals and international travellers.
The company is supported by top tier investors. As of today, the company acquires and develops on average 6-7 new projects every year.
The Role:
As the Technical Development/Construction Manager, you are responsible for the development of the client designed projects in Barcelona to ensure they meet the requirements. Your involvement commences as soon as the business case is signed off and continues right through to delivery. After the building permit is submitted, your focus is on project management from the pre-construction phase until handover to the development team. Your main target is delivering a project in the client spirit, with optimal quality, on time and within budget. You report to the Commercial Development Manager and work closely together with internal and external designers, preferred suppliers and a variety of international construction companies.
Responsibilities:
- Managing design of a construction team on a daily basis according to progress, quality and budget (you are usually working on two projects at a time);
- Reviewing work progress, preparing internal and external reports and sign-offs with a focus on optimization in terms of quality, timing and budget;
- As part of the development team, you aim to meet all goals set in the business case;
- Preparing the tender strategy together with your team and select, negotiate and form contract partners including architects, technical advisers and construction partners;
- Coordinating and aligning the needs of the operational team in the project;
- Planning ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones;
- Analysing, managing and mitigating risks.
Requirements:
You have:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a construction company or renowned Project Management firm;
- Native in Spanish and a very good level of English. Catalan would be a plus;
- MSc degree in Real Estate Development/ Engineering/ Architecture;
- Experience in hospitality projects;
- Advanced project management skill-set;
- Experience in all facets of construction management;
- Keen familiarity with construction management processes, means and methods;
- Experience with project management software packages;
- A natural talent for negotiation and deal-making while maintaining strong relationships;
- Ability to plan, see and work in accordance with “the bigger picture“;
- An understanding of real estate value creation;
- Great conflict and crisis management skills;
- Excellent leadership and management skills.

- Capable of leading and managing a diverse and developing young team;
- Flexible, motivated, social and highly organised;
- Happy to travel (2 to 3 days a week);
- Legally permitted to work and live in Spain.
